Business alignment has to reach everyday decisions
A strategy needs a connection to the work people do. In my article on business alignment, I explored why shared goals must be understood across departments and translated into consistent action.
That connection can weaken when immediate pressures displace longer-term priorities, ownership is unclear or different teams receive conflicting messages. A statement of intent does not resolve those problems on its own.
Leadership, communication and learning all have a part to play. People need to understand the direction, recognise their contribution and have opportunities to build the understanding required to act on it.
For technology leaders, this is a useful lens on organisational change: shared direction needs to remain visible in everyday decisions. This is a perspective on how organisations work, rather than a claim about a particular employer’s results.
