Who is responsible

This website is operated by Karl Nicholson in a personal capacity. I am responsible for deciding how personal information collected through the site and enquiries is used.

Information and purposes

If you email me, I receive the contact details and information you include, together with the correspondence needed to respond. I use this to handle your enquiry and any follow-up.

Squarespace hosts this website. When you visit, hosting and analytics services may process technical information such as your IP address, browser and device details, pages viewed and referring page. This supports delivery, security and understanding how the site is used.

The redesigned site provides email and external profile links. It does not include an enquiry form or a newsletter sign-up.

Why information is used

I rely on legitimate interests to respond to enquiries and maintain a secure, functioning website, taking account of your interests and rights. Where correspondence is necessary to take steps at your request before entering a contract, or to perform a contract, that is the relevant basis. Some records may need to be kept to meet legal obligations.

Optional analytics cookies are used with your consent. You can change your choice using the cookie preferences control.

Cookies and service providers

Essential cookies support the site’s operation. Non-essential cookies are restricted until you make a choice. Use Accept, Decline or Manage cookies in the banner, and Cookie Preferences to revisit your choice.

Squarespace provides the website hosting and analytics. My email is hosted by Google Workspace, formerly G Suite. These providers process information as needed to deliver their services. Squarespace explains its practices, including international data handling, in its privacy policy and cookie information.

Service providers may process information outside the UK. Google explains its data processing and international transfer arrangements in the Google Workspace Cloud Data Processing Addendum. You can contact me for further information about the safeguards relevant to your information.

LinkedIn, publishers and podcast services have their own privacy practices. Their policies apply when you follow a link to them.

How long information is kept

I delete website enquiry emails after I have finished processing the enquiry. Deletion from provider backups and service records follows the provider’s retention practices.

Hosting logs and cookie information are retained according to the relevant provider’s service settings and retention practices.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may ask to access or correct your information, have it erased, restrict its use, object to processing or receive a portable copy. You can withdraw consent for optional cookies through Cookie Preferences.
