I make complicated technology useful.

My career has taken me from industrial automation and motorsport engineering to enterprise technology, aviation, data culture and engineering leadership.

The environments change. The questions keep returning: what are we trying to achieve, how do the systems fit together, and what do the people who depend on them need?

I’m interested in difficult problems that cross organisational boundaries, where technology, people, strategy and execution meet.

Engineering judgement, clearly communicated.

I’m a Chief Engineer at QinetiQ, a role I began in September 2025. My work brings together engineering authority, architectural coherence, technical assurance and evidence-based decisions.

That builds on experience leading data culture at Virgin Media O2, technical innovation at KLM BlueLabs, executive engagement at Slack and technology strategy as CIO at Synaptek.

Still learning.

I became a Fellow of BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, in January 2023. During 2023–24, I undertook executive education at London Business School in Leading Digital Transformation and Innovation Through Design Thinking.

Continued learning matters to me because engineering judgement has to develop alongside the technology and the organisations it serves.

Helping others find their confidence.

Alongside my career, I served as a commissioned officer in the RAF Air Cadets from June 2009 to August 2025, including squadron command from 2015 to 2020.

My later regional communications and cyber role supported six Wings, alongside work on training and instructor development. It was another setting in which leadership meant taking responsibility for people and helping them develop.

Technology, people and the work between them.

Engineering gives me a way to understand how things work. Executive experience has taught me the value of making that understanding useful to other people.

My published writing and conversations explore collaboration, integration and the organisational conditions that help technology deliver value.
