Engineering close to the action.
Earlier roles took me through industrial automation, motorsport timing and trackside infrastructure, before enterprise technology services and innovation leadership.
In the FIA World Touring Car Championship, my work included race-data distribution. At Lotus and Renault, I worked on trackside infrastructure. These environments made dependable systems and timely information a practical engineering responsibility.
As a technical consultant and team manager at Spherica, supporting Virgin Trains, I led the architecture and migration of its live data-centre operations to Microsoft Azure and co-location facilities. I also designed and implemented the “Smarter Working” strategy across its offices and railway stations, using Office 365 and Box. Those programmes connected infrastructure delivery with changes to how people worked.

Karl is always quick to see outside of an immediate problem and spot an opportunity via another avenue, often exceeding/optimising the original objective. He is able to identify what is missing in a situation not only what is wrong. A strong advisor to any team forging a path into new areas for the first time.
“He is an intuitive problem solver who gets things done in a pragmatic fashion with a great sense of humour to boot!”
